AT&T customers can now buy an Amazon Kindle HDX 7-inch tablet for only $49.99—half its usual price—if they buy it at the same time that they also buy an Amazon Fire smartphone under a limited time offer through Nov. 20 from AT&T.
The half-price tablet deal can be arranged online through AT&T or through the company’s retail stores, according to an Oct. 23 announcement from AT&T. The Kindle Fire HDX includes 32 GB of storage.
AT&T sells the 32GB Fire smartphone for 99 cents with a two-year contract, while the 64GB model is available for $99.99, also with a two–year contract. The regular price of the 32GB model is $449.99, while the 64GB model is normally priced at $549.99.
The Kindle Fire HDX can also be bought without a Fire phone for $10 per month with zero down and no annual service contract, in addition to monthly service fees, according to AT&T, or for $99.99 with a two-year cellular contract.
The Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch includes a high-resolution display, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM, the Fire OS3.x Mojito operating system, a wide range of cloud services and 24/7 Mayday live video tech support, according to AT&T.
In August, Amazon released its Kindle HD 7-inch tablet, along with three other Fire tablets and two new Kindle e-readers. The new devices were launched to increase Amazon’s offerings to consumers with a wide range of new features just before the lucrative and critical end-of-year holiday shopping season.
The other new Fire tablets also included the Fire HD Kids Edition, which is Amazon’s first-ever device aimed specifically at children and is built to take the physical punishment that kids can dish out, a 6-inch Fire HD tablet and the Fire HDX 8.9-inch high-performance tablet.
The latest Kindle e-readers included the seventh generation of the devices, the Kindle Voyage, which sells for $199, and the standard Kindle, which sells for $79, both of which gained new features and improved performance.
